It’s becoming more and more likely that Xavi Hernandez will not be Barcelona’s manager beyond the end of this season. Joan Laporta is expected to sack the 44-year-old in the coming weeks, and a clear favourite to replace him has already been identified.

On the day that Barcelona sporting director Deco is reported to have met with Hansi Flick, it’s now been claimed by Esport3 programme Onze that the former Bayern Munich and Germany manager has a “95% chance” of taking over from Xavi.

Flick had been in contention for the position when Xavi announced in January that he would be stepping down, although his chances blew up in smoke when Xavi committed his future at Barcelona for another season. Only a few weeks later, Flick’s chance to take over looks stronger than ever.

It’s been a very chaotic episode at Barcelona over the last few weeks, and Xavi is reported to have been kept in the dark throughout this process. He, and many others, are likely to have more clarity next week.
