Manchester United have Everton forward Richarlison on a list of targets, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a switch to Tottenham, but O’Rourke thinks the Red Devils could also consider making a move for him this summer.

What is the latest news involving Richarlison?

In his column for CaughtOffside, the reliable Fabrizio Romano recently stated that Tottenham and other clubs are showing interest in Richarlison.

According to him, the 25-year-old will cost around €75m (£65m), which is a lot of money.

Everton’s asking price, however, comes as no surprise, with Richarlison arguably being the Merseyside outfit’s best and most important player.

Last season, he scored 10 goals in 30 league games to help keep Frank Lampard’s side in the Premier League.

What has O’Rourke said about Richarlison and United?

O’Rourke, who thinks Richarlison can be “world class” on his day, has told GIVEMESPORT that United have looked at the Brazil international before and could try to sign him in this transfer window.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “I can imagine he’s on United’s list of targets. Richarlison has been on United’s list before – for a while – so I’m sure they’re still keeping tabs on him. And if he does become available, I’m sure they might consider a move for him.”

Where would Richarlison play at United?

He would have a good shot of starting on the left after Marcus Rashford’s disappointing season at Old Trafford.

It is a position he has played in often, 96 times to be exact, according to Transfermarkt. The former Watford man can also be deployed as a striker, and that option may appeal to Erik ten Hag if he wants a No.9 who is going to work hard and press.

As per FBref, Richarlison has ranked in the 92nd percentile for pressures, the 95th for tackles and the 99th for blocks among forwards over the last year, proof that he is willing to do the running around when leading the line for his side.

Of course, Cristiano Ronaldo looks far from finished after scoring 24 goals in all competitions last term. Whatever philosophy Ten Hag brings to Old Trafford, it is hard to imagine the Portugal legend being left out of the team.

With so many games, though, Richarlison could be a good alternative, but it remains to be seen if United actually do end up making a move for the Everton star this summer.
