Manchester United will be ‘at the table’ for RB Leipzig ace Dani Olmo if he does not agree to a new deal with the Bundesliga side, BILD Sport journalist Christian Falk has informed GiveMeSport.

The 24-year-old – once called “exceptional” by Julian Nagelsmann – is on a contract that runs until June 2024 at the Red Bull Arena, putting the Red Devils on alert as Erik Ten Hag looks to bring in more reinforcements to shape his squad.

Man United transfer news – Dani Olmo

Earlier this month, GOAL claimed Manchester United were in the hunt to acquire the Spain international, with the report claiming that the Old Trafford side have already tabled an offer to try and entice him to England.

Barcelona are also mooted to be keen on his services, which also could be a big factor due to the fact Olmo started his career in the world-famed La Masia academy. The Terrassa-born midfielder spent seven years at the club between 2007 and 2014, while is open to a move back to his homeland if the opportunity is right.

Nevertheless, the £68,000-a-week Olmo is also not against moving elsewhere, stating: “But I’m not just tied to Spain. The most important thing for me is to play in a club where I feel wanted and important”.

Barcelona failed with a £58 million bid to take the playmaker back to Camp Nou in 2021, according to The Manchester Evening News, and it remains to be seen how much he would cost right now.

What has Christian Falk said about Dani Olmo?

BILD Sport journalist Falk believes that Manchester United will be ‘at the table’ to try and tempt the classy midfielder to Old Trafford if uncertainty over his future at RB Leipzig continues to persist.

Falk told GMS: “United would also be a great target for him. So the question again is, is he signing at Leipzig, then they can keep him?

“If not, they will have to discuss to sell him and I think United will be at the table for this poker.”

Would Dani Olmo be a good fit at Old Trafford?

Manchester United have a healthy number of options in midfield; however, you can never have too many good technicians at a club that can regularly lay on opportunities for their teammates.

Olmo has made 18 appearances for RB Leipzig across all competitions in 2022/23, registering three goals and four assists, as per Transfermarkt.

In the Bundesliga, WhoScored has shown that the 24-year-old has completed an average of 1.6 key passes per match, demonstrating his ability to weave chances for others frequently.

His performances at the World Cup have boosted his profile to a certain extent, as he obtained a match rating of 7.14/10 for all of his exploits in Qatar. Olmo was a significant player for Luis Enrique and helped aid Spain to the last 16 of the tournament, before they were subsequently knocked out by Morocco on penalties.
