Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, McAllister, Szoboszlai; Diaz, Salah, Jota.

This is the 191st meeting between the teams, with United having the edge with 73 victories to Liverpool’s 64 and there have been 53 draws.

Sunday’s Premier League clash is live on Sky Sports and kicks off at 4pm (BST), with two Dutch managers going up against each other prior to the first international break.

Man Utd vs Liverpool Team News

Mason Mount’s Manchester United career has been stop-start so far, and the England international now faces another spell on the sidelines. The former Chelsea player picked up a hamstring injury in last weekend’s defeat at Brighton, which is set to keep him sidelined for up to five weeks.

The hosts are still missing Rasmus Hojlund due to a hamstring problem, but they could have Victor Lindelof back in the squad after a recent toe injury. Luke Shaw also remains on the sidelines with a calf issue but could be back in contention following the international break.

Liverpool made a new addition this week with the capture of Federico Chiesa from Juventus, but Slot admits it’s unlikely he will be involved at Old Trafford. Curtis Jones, who sat out the 2-0 win over Brentford, is a doubt again due to a knock picked up after the opening weekend.

Otherwise, Slot should have a full squad to select from and could be tempted to stick with the same side that defeated the Bees. No away player has scored more goals at Old Trafford in the Premier League era than Mohamed Salah, who will look to find the net for the third consecutive game this season.

Slot and Ten Hag turn North West rivals

Arne Slot has enjoyed a successful start to his reign at Anfield, with Liverpool beginning the campaign with wins over Ipswich and Brentford.

In contrast, pressure is again on the shoulders of Erik Ten Hag, who was widely expected to be relieved of his duties at the end of last season. United claimed a narrow victory in their opening game against Fulham, before suffering a late defeat at the hands of Brighton.

The two have been in opposing dugouts in the past in the Eredivisie, but this will be a step up in rivalry and tension at the very highest level. The clubs have 39 league titles between them, and the pressure is on both managers and squads to deliver more success.
