Manchester United will decide on the severity of Christian Eriksen’s injury before potentially making a late move in the January transfer window, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has told GIVEMESPORT.

The Red Devils have added two players to their squad this month – Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley and Jack Butland in a similar agreement from Crystal Palace.

Man United latest transfer news

It has been widely reported that United are working with a limited January transfer budget with the ongoing takeover talk at Old Trafford – a deadline of mid-February has been set for potential bidders of the club.

That is one of the reason we have seen two low-cost options arrive so far in January following an expensive summer of business that included the arrivals of Antony from Ajax and Casemiro from Real Madrid.

Another one of Ten Hag’s first signings was Eriksen, who has played a key part in United’s resurgence from the middle of the pitch in recent months.

However, the experienced Dane was pictured leaving crutches after the 3-1 success against the Royals on Saturday, which will be a worry for Ten Hag.

Fabrizio Romano had previously suggested to GIVEMESPORT prior to this issue that midfield might be an area United could explore opportunities before the window slams shut on Tuesday – it will be interesting to see what happens from here after this latest development.

What did Sheth say?

Providing an update to GIVEMESPORT on Sunday, Sheth suggested United could at least take a look if Eriksen’s injury proves to be serious, although he hinted a loan arrival would be more likely than a permanent addition.

“Christian Eriksen went off on crutches when he left Old Trafford last night after the victory against Reading in the FA Cup.

“Depending on how serious that is would dictate whether United try and go into the market for a loan. I think for a big, big signing, it looks very unlikely with only a couple of days to go.”

Have United been linked with any midfielders?

There hasn’t been loads of names mentioned to be honest, although Ben Jacobs has recently told GIVEMESPORT that Youri Tielemans of Leicester City is one player that the Red Devils have a long-standing interest in.

Given he is out of contract at the end of the season he could also potentially be available for a cut-price fee this month, although the Foxes are clearly also running out of time to bring a replacement in given there are only 48 hours to go.

Whatever happens, it appears the door isn’t completely closed on another new face coming through the door at Old Trafford yet.
