Manchester United target Manuel Ugarte scored the winning penalty for Uruguay as they beat Brazil 4-2 on penalties to book a place in the Copa America semi-finals.
Sergio Rochet denied Eder Militao in the shootout, while Douglas Luiz hit the post to hand Uruguay the initiative.
Ugarte buried the decisive penalty to dump Brazil out of the continental competition.
Uruguay showed great resilience to triumph at the Allegiant Stadium in Nevada and set up a semi-final encounter with Colombia.
United are reportedly eyeing a move for Ugarte in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Uruguayan footballer joined Paris Saint-Germain last summer from Sporting Lisbon and enjoyed a reasonable first season at the Parc des Princes.
The 23-year-old could be signed for €50 million, but United may try to negotiate a lower fee.
Sofyan Amrabat endured a largely disappointing loan stint in Manchester but ended the season on a high with some impressive performances.
The Red Devils could decide to make the defensive midfielder’s move permanent. If that happens, they are unlikely to pursue a deal for Ugarte.
