Manchester United are making one final effort to prise Frenkie de Jong away from Barcelona.
De Telegraaf says United are in touch with the player's entourage and are going to launch an all-out offensive over the next week to sign the midfielder. They believe a deal is very possible despite Chelsea's proposals. United have remained in constant contact with the player and his agent.
The English club, will sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot but have saved most of their transfer budget for the signing of De Jong.
Their coach, Erik Ten Hag, has reportedly given orders to up the offer and go all out to convince the player. He has taken charge of the situation and it is even possible there will be a face-to-face meeting with the player to finally close this chapter.
Chelsea have been bidding in the last few days, but without much conviction as Thomas Tuchel's priority is to sign a top-level centre-forward. He has allowed the De Jong issue to stagnate due to the lack of response from the player and his entourage.
