Manchester United will face Roma in the Europa League semi-finals after a routine victory over Granada at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side knocked out their second La Liga opponents in the competition by a 4-0 aggregate scoreline after Edinson Cavani’s volley and a late own goal by Real Madrid loanee Jesús Vallejo.

It’s the fifth time Solskjaer has guided United into the last four of a competition but this time the Reds are favourites to go all the way and secure the Norwegian’s first piece of silverware as manager.

Standing in the way of Solskjaer’s first final against either Arsenal or Villarreal are Roma, who knocked out Ajax, United’s 2017 final opponents in Stockholm.

Roma drew 1-1 in the second-leg to ensure their progression after a 2-1 victory in the away leg over the Eredivisie side.

It’s a clash between two European heavyweights that will play a defining factor in Solskjaer’s season as he looks to further validate his progression as manager.

The tie will have a number of subplots with former United players Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan now starring for the Giallorossi.

Smalling and Mkhitaryan both started in United’s last trophy success over Ajax four years ago.

United’s tie against the Serie A giants will take place on Thursday April, 29 and Thursday April, 6.
