Man Utd team news vs Arsenal

Man Utd’s deep injury crisis means they could be have a Premier League-high 10 players sidelined for this affair.

Patrick Dorgu picked up a red card in the Red Devils’ 3-2 win over Ipswich Town at the end of February, and will serve the second part of his three-match ban against Arsenal.

Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo will miss the rest of the season, the former suffering an ACL tear at the start of February and the latter an ankle injury.

Also missing from Man Utd’s back line are Jonny Evans and Luke Shaw, who aren’t expected back until after the international break. Kobbie Mainoo could return before the break but he will definitely be out for Sunday’s clash.

Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte both picked up knocks during the Red Devils’ penalty shootout defeat by Fulham in the FA Cup fifth round last week. They were omitted from the squad in Man Urd’s mid-week game against Real Sociedad and are each a doubt for this game against the Gunners.

Capping off the absentee list for Ruben Amorim’s side are Mason Mount and Altay Bayindir, who are “recovering”, according to the Portuguese boss, but still unavailable.

20th time lucky for Hojlund?

Rasmus Hojlund extended his goalscoring drought to 19 games when he failed to find the back of the net against Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday. His last goal for Man Utd came on 12th December — three months ago.

Hojlund’s two top-flight goals this season have not helped his side’s cause, who have scored just 33 in 27 Premier League games, and are on track to log their worst goalscoring tally ever in the competition, 49 in 2015-16.

The £72million signing has blanked in his last 12 league games but, arguably even more concerning, is that he has only had 16 shots in the Premier League in 2024-25.

Despite Hojlund’s dismal form, Amorim insisted last week that “if we improve the way we play the game he will have more opportunities to score”.

Ultimately, the beleaguered manager’s options are scarce; the only alternative to Hojlund is 17-year-old academy star Chido Obi. For now, Man Utd fans will simply have to hope their No.9 turns it around, rather than waiting on a change of personnel to aid their team’s attacking woes.
