Manchester United target Alex Telles is reportedly calling on Porto to drop their asking price, the left-back believing their valuation is ‘unrealistic’.

The Red Devils were linked with a move for Sergio Reguilon earlier in the transfer window, though the Spaniard has since ended up joining Spurs, the north London side agreeing to Real Madrid’s terms of including a buyback clause in the deal, something that United were unwilling to do.

Manchester United have since shifted their attentions to Porto’s Alex Telles, the attacking full-back boasting an impressive record of providing 56 assists in 193 appearances for the Primeira Liga side.

Some reports have claimed that Porto have set an asking price of £36 million, although the Guardian report that it is in fact half that, the Portuguese side wanting €20 million (£18m) for their left-back.

However, with less than a year remaining on his contract at the Estadio do Dragao, and able to negotiate a free transfer away from the club in just over three month’s time, Telles is said to be urging the club to further reduce what he sees as an ‘unrealistic’ valuation, believing £12m to be a ‘more realistic’ fee.

United are believed to concur with that suggestion, as they once again try to drive the price of a transfer deal down, the Red Devils transfer dealings never seeming to be straight forward.

Other reports have suggested that Nicolas Tagliafico is also on United’s radar as an alternative to Telles, a deal for the Argentine potentially easier to complete given their relationship with Ajax CEO, Edwin van der Sar.
