The Premier League returned and what a Saturday it was.
There were eight games across the day, here is what went down around the grounds.
Scorers: McBurnie (P) 34′ ; McTominay 29′, Dalot 77′
Man Uted’s lack of pace at the back was apparent from the off, as Oli McBurnie got in behind early one, but the forward sent his shot right into the grateful grasp of André Onana.
It was an encouraging start from the hosts, as the Red Devils struggled to get ahold of the affair.
The encouraged home crowd was stunned on the half hour mark however, as Scott McTominay continued his scoring streak by firing home from close range to give the visitors the lead.
The midfielder was among the action again just five minutes, this time conceding a penalty however. His handball in the box allowed Oli McBurnie to fire home from the spot and pull the Blades level.
The hosts did not struggle to create chances after the restart, forcing Onana into a handful of last-ditch saves.
Ten Hag’s men clawed their way back into the game and wrestled back the control. They almost got their reward past the hour mark when Sofyan Amrabat fired a long-range dart off the cross-bar, but the score remained level.
Finally, the ball found the back of the net for the visitors after a period of possession in the Sheffield United half. A rasping Diogo Dalot curler from the edge of the box found it’s way past Wes Foderingham to snatch the win for Man Utd in the final 15 minutes.
Scorers: Palmer (PEN) 15′, Mudryk 48′; Rice 77′, Trossard 84′
Arsenal came from 2-0 down to claim a point from an enthralling London derby clash with Chelsea.
After a blistering start at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea were awarded a penalty when William Saliba was adjudged by a VAR check to have handled a Raheem Sterling cross in the box.
Cole Palmer stepped up and scored from the spot for the second consecutive match.
Declan Rice then poked the chance of an equaliser wide for Arsenal, before Palmer went close to adding to his goal with an effort which just went past the far post.
Arsenal brought on Takehiro Tomiyasu for Oleksandr Zinchenko at half-time, but they soon found themselves 2-0 down, when Mykhailo Mudryk beat David Raya with an audacious effort from a wide crossing position which caught the goalkeeper in no man’s land.
Raya was soon almost left red-faced again when his sloppy pass was intercepted by Palmer in the penalty area, but the goalkeeper was able to recover to prevent the Chelsea man from making it 3-0.
Nicolas Jackson came off the bench for Chelsea and had a great chance to add a third when he was sent racing through on goal by Sterling, but Raya did well to dive at the striker’s feet and smother.
It was a goalkeeping error which gifted Arsenal a lifeline in the 77th minute, when Robert Sánchez’s poor pass to Enzo Fernández instead landed at Rice’s feet, and the midfielder set up a grandstand climax with a brilliant first time finish into the empty net.
Leandro Trossard came off the bench for Arsenal and soon bagged an equaliser, latching onto a teasing Bukayo Saka cross at the back post to score.
That result leaves the Gunners second in the table, level on 21 points with Manchester City, while Chelsea are ninth.
Scorers: Alvarez 7′, Haaland 19′; Ansu Fati 73′
Two first half goals from Julian Álvarez and Erling Haaland helped Manchester City edge Brighton 2-1.
It was a battle between Europe’s most innovative coaches at the Etihad, but it was City who took the lead after only seven minutes as Julian Álvarez finished well after great work by Jeremy Doku.
Erling Haaland then doubled City’s lead on 19 minutes as the Norway international burst into space and fired in a low effort from outside the area.
Into the second half and Doku was running riot down the left-hand side, using his pace and technique to stretch the Brighton defence and put the crowd on their feet.
City were pretty wasteful in front of goal and they paid for that profligacy with 15 minutes to go as Ansu Fati pounced inside the area to finish.
Manuel Akanji was sent off late in added time for City after a second booking but the home side held on for the win.
Scorers: Murphy 5′, Gordon 44′, Longstaff 45+3′, Wilson 66′
Newcastle were at their swashbuckling best on Saturday as they beat Crystal Palace 4-0.
Anthony Gordon was back from suspension and straight into the Newcastle side as Crystal Palace came to St James’ Park.
It took the Magpies just five minutes for them to take the lead as Jacob Murphy latched on to a Kieran Trippier pass and lobbed Sam Johnstone in the Palace goal.
Eddie Howe’s side really should have doubled their lead on 30 minutes but Gordon’s effort from four yards out hit the crossbar when it looked easier to score.
Gordon made up for it late in the first half however, as he ghosted in at the far post and volleyed in to double the home side’s advantage.
Newcastle’s completely dominant first half display was complete in injury time as Sean Longstaff waltzed in and added a third.
After the break, and Newcastle weren’t content with settling for three goals as Gordon and Longstaff both went close before the hour mark.
And they got their fourth on 66 minutes as Callum Wilson raced in and finished coolly.
Scorers: Wood 48′ 76′; Ogbene 83′, Adebayo 90+2′
Luton scored two goals in the last 10 minutes to come from behind to draw 2-2 with Nottingham Forest.
Luton were on the hunt for their second win of the Premier League season as they went to Forest.
It was a strong start for the hosts but Forest couldn’t covert their possession into gilt-edged chances, with Chris Wood’s tame header the closest they came early on.
After the break it was that man Wood who eventually broke the deadlock as he arrowed an effort home on 48 minutes.
The New Zealand international found his touch in front of goal and added a second with 15 minutes to go to double Forest’s advantage.
There was still some hope for Luton late on though as Chiedoze Ogbene continued his impressive form of late with a neat finish.
And unbelievably they got their equaliser in the 92nd minute as Elijah Adebayo scored an equaliser.
Scorers: Wissa 25′, Mbuemo 62′, Ghoddos 87′
Brentford impressed from start to finish as they beat 10-man Burnley 3-0.
Brentford were looking to end a run of five without a win in the Premier League as they welcomed Burnley to west London.
Neal Maupay thought he had opened the scoring inside the first 10 minutes but his effort was ruled out for offside by the VAR.
But they did find their opener soon after as Yoane Wissa found the back of the net.
Thomas Frank’s side were impressing and doubled their lead just after the hour mark as Bryan Mbuemo found the back of the net.
A bad day got worse for Burnley with 10 minutes to go as Connor Roberts was sent off.
The Bees were enjoying themselves now and bagged a third late on as Saman Ghoddos netted his first of the campaign.
Scorers: Solanke 17′; Cunha 47′, Kalajdzic 90′
An injury time winner from Sasa Kalajdzic saw Wolves beat Bournemouth 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium.
One of only two sides yet to win this term, Bournemouth were hoping to end their woeful start with a victory over Wolves.
It was the visitors who looked most likely to score early on as Pedro Neto curled a brilliant effort against the woodwork.
But the Cherries struck against the run of play as Dominic Solanke netted to send the home fans into raptures.
Into the second half and Wolves equalised immediately as Matheus Cunha finished superbly.
Things got worse for the home side soon after as Lewis Cook earned himself a red card.
And that extra man advantage helped the visitors as Sasa Kalajdzic netted a late winner.
Scorers: Salah (PEN) 75′ 90+7′
A second half double from Mohamed Salah was enough to give Liverpool a 2-0 win and secure bragging rights over Everton.
Anfield was the venue as Everton travelled across Stanley Park to take on a Liverpool side who would go top of the Premier League with a win.
It took the Toffees all of 20 seconds to have their first effort on goal but Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s header was saved comfortably by Alisson.
Jürgen Klopp’s side looked in the mood though, and almost scored on 12 minutes as a lightning fast break saw Luis Diaz go in on goal but the Colombia international had his effort blocked by Ashley Young.
After that bright start however, things calmed down somewhat as Everton kept the home side at bay.
But the away side’s hard work in defence was undone on 37 minutes as Ashley Young hacked Luis Diaz down outside the area for his second booking.
Into the second half and Everton were understandably packing men behind the ball and trying to frustrate their hosts as they attacked the Kop.
As the half went on Liverpool were getting more and more desperate but they got their chance to take the lead on 74 minutes as a penalty was given for handball by Michael Keane.
It was Mohamed Salah who stepped up and the Egypt international rifled in from the spot.
And then in the dying moments of the game, Salah struck again after good work from Darwin Nuñez to secure the win.
There is just one game on Sunday with Aston Villa hosting West Ham with Spurs facing Fulham on Monday.
