Manchester United have yet to decide whether to allow Alejandro Garnacho to represent Argentina this summer.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United are still considering Argentina’s release request. TyC Sports claim they have rejected the approach.

La Albiceleste will select an Under-23 football team to compete in the Paris Olympics.

Garnacho could be one of the first names on Javier Mascherano’s team sheet after his breakthrough season with United.

Garnacho could miss several games if he goes to the Olympics

The Red Devils will face Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on August 10.

The new Premier League season begins seven days later and Garnacho could miss a few games if Argentina made it to the final.

However, it would be tough on Garnacho if the club refused to allow him to represent his nation in the Olympics.

The 19-year-old has been capped five times for Argentina, having made his international debut last summer.

Garnacho bagged ten goals and five assists this season. He also scored the crucial opener in the FA Cup final.

United supporters will want the £38 million-rated star to get as much rest as possible before the new season starts.

The best way for the Red Devils to make that happen is by preventing him from playing at the Olympics.
