The Red Devils need to bring in a quality, central defender and Branthwaite would be a major upgrade on players like Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire. Both players have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford and they have not been at their best this season.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur have already improved the defensive unit by signing multiple central defenders this season. However, it seems that they are still looking to bring in another quality defender to complete their defensive setup for the future.
Everton are currently fighting for survival and Branthwaite will want to compete at a high level. The 21-year-old defender is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in the Premier League right now. The opportunity to move to Manchester United or Tottenham will be an attractive one for him and it will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
