Manchester United are facing a significant financial sponsorship hit if they do not qualify for the Champions League for the 2023-2024 season.

The Red Devils are in the Europa League for this 2022-2023 campaign, as a result of finishing sixth in the Premier League last term.

Unless they finish in the top four or win the Europa League, they may lose out on money as part of their sponsorship with adidas.

The mega sports brand is United's shirt manufacturer, paying £750million over ten years.

However, the agreement has a clause regarding United's performance on the pitch.

If the Red Devils miss the Champions League for two seasons in a row, adidas would have to pay 30 percent less for the coming season, which is roughly £22.5 million.
