Manchester United are seriously considering sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager.

The club hierarchy are discussing whether to part ways with the Norwegian ahead of Saturday's clash with Tottenham, per the Manchester Evening News.

The news comes after United were thumped 5-0 by Liverpool on Sunday.

Solskjaer reportedly kept his players at Old Trafford for two hours after the humiliation by United's fierce rivals.

The Red Devils are without a win in their last four Premier League matches and have only won three of their last nine matches across all competitions.

The first-team squad has been granted a rare day off as United have no midweek games following their loss to West Ham in the Carabao Cup last month.

Speaking after the Liverpool defeat, Solskajer was adamant he would not walk away from the job.

He said: "I do believe in myself, I do believe that I am getting close to what I want with the club.

"I think what we've done, what I've seen, the development, of course the results lately haven't been good enough, it's hands up and that brings doubt in anyone's mind probably."

Former Chelsea and Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte is reportedly interested in replacing Solskjaer in the United dugout.

Conte, who won the Premier League with Chelsea in 2017, has been without a club since leaving Inter at the end of last season.

Zinedine Zidane is another free agent coach who has been linked with United.
