Man Utd bosses have reportedly ‘sanctioned an £80m deal’ for Harry Kane, who ‘finally looks set to leave Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of trophies’.

It is common knowledge that United are in the market for a new striker heading into the summer transfer window. Wout Weghorst has filled in since January but he only joined the Premier League club on loan.

The Red Devils are expected to go for a world-class striker to boost their chances of challenging for the title under Erik ten Hag next season.

Harry Kane is among the players they are being linked with. England’s all-time record scorer is out of contract in 2024 and it was claimed earlier this month that he wants to move on in the summer.

The forward previously looked to leave Spurs in 2021 but Daniel Levy’s lofty demands meant a deal was pretty much impossible.

A transfer will be more doable this summer as Kane enters the final year of his contract at Tottenham. It has been reported that he would cost around £100m.

United are also understood to have interest in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos, but The Daily Star are reporting that they are ‘prepared to make their move for Kane’.

The report states that the Tottenham standout is Ten Hag’s ‘no.1 priority this summer and United CEO Richard Arnold has sanctioned a potential deal’. Man Utd ‘hope to agree an £80m deal’ and they will ‘not wait until the end of the season’ to begin talks with their Premier League rivals.

Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Chelsea are also said to be in for Kane. To win the race to sign him, ‘Ten Hag wants to get ahead of his rivals and is keen for talks with Spurs to begin in the coming weeks’. The report adds.

‘He knows he is approaching the peak of his career and is running out of time to fulfil his ambition of playing more Champions League football and winning trophies. ‘Spurs chairman Daniel Levy hopes the manager he appoints to replace Antonio Conte will be a big enough name to persuade Kane to stay. But it’s understood Kane will once again push to leave the under-achieving London club and that United are his preferred choice.’

“Tottenham aren’t going to want to lose him on a free and he’s coming into the last year of his contract. For a club to buy him, they’re going to have to spend £90-£100 million for a 30-year-old and get three years of significant output from him.

“The next managerial appointment at Tottenham is going to play a crucial role for whatever Harry Kane does. I think if [Mauricio] Pochettino comes back in, then I believe there’s a good chance he will stay at Tottenham and he will look for personal achievements and personal records.
