Manchester United target Jurrien Timber will not force away a move from Ajax this summer, and will leave it to the two clubs to negotiate according to Fabrizio Romano.

What is the latest news involving Jurrien Timber?

As Erik ten Hag looks to begin his revolution of this United squad, one name that has been consistently linked with a move to Old Trafford is one of his former charges from Ajax, Timber.

The Dutchman was given his Eredivisie debut by the now United boss, and reports have suggested that Ten Hag is keen to reunite with him at his new home.

What did Romano say about Man Utd’s pursuit of Timber?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano claimed that Timber wouldn’t look to force the issue in terms of leaving Ajax, and that he will leave it between the two clubs to reach an agreement.

He said: “From what I’m told, Timber will be really respectful of Ajax as the first point. He doesn’t want to break his relationship with Ajax so he’s leaving the situation with the clubs. He’s not desperate to leave the club or to join Man Utd as soon as possible. He’s not forcing this move.”

Timber and Ten Hag could be perfect partnership at Man Utd

Valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, Timer arriving at Old Trafford this summer would rekindle a fine partnership with Ten Hag that really blossomed at Ajax.

Indeed, the Dutch manager has been quick to praise the centre-back’s presence in the dressing room, saying: “He will not immediately be the leader of the Ajax first team, but he dares to speak out immediately and has not been shy in the dressing room. Those are important qualities to get far.”

The young defender has already been touted to be a partner for Harry Maguire at Old Trafford, with former Ajax midfielder Marciano Vink, declaring: “Maybe he can play alongside Harry Maguire, this guy is ice cold. This guy is so comfortable on the ball, he anticipates like the best and a defender needs to anticipate, you can be a strong defender, tall but if you don’t know how to anticipate where the ball is going or attacker then you’re not a good attacker but this guy anticipates like the best.

“For me, it’s somebody who could play in the Premier League but also could help Man United from the back football wise.”

Given that he has already worked with Ten Hag, Timber should be able to hit the ground running at United quicker than any other potential centre-back targets the club might have.
