Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have struggled to get the most out of their No. 9 position this season.
Gonçalo Ramos appears to be slowly returning from injury, but manager Luis Enrique has gone with a false No. 9 rather than starting Randal Kolo Muani. Moreover, rumors are emerging that the Frenchman could be on the market when the January transfer window opens.
As for the Red Devils, they invested heavy economic figures on Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee, but neither has taken the reigns to the starting striker position and ran away with the starting job.
With the goals lacking, could these two clubs be in the mix for a No. 9 in 2025?

Former Italian footballer Christian Vieri wrote in a column for La Gazzetta dello Sport that the Red Devils and Parisians should be pursuing Atalanta striker Mateo Retegui, who has scored 10 goals and recorded three assists for the Serie A side.
“The upcoming season is going to be critical for Retegui to show that he’s a top-tier striker,” Vieri wrote (h/t Le10Sport). “If he can meet the goals set for this year, he could attract a transfer fee of €60 million and €70 million. Teams like Manchester United and PSG, both of which need a center-forward right now, may start to take an interest in him.”
While Atalanta will be hoping for a massive sum, Transfermarkt currently puts the 25-year-old’s transfer value at €25 million. Nonetheless, as Vieri states, if Retegui continues this impressive goal-scoring feat, that value and asking price will trend upward.
