The winter transfer window came and went without any movement from Maghnes Akliouche, who stayed put at AS Monaco. But with summer approaching, interest in the French midfielder is heating up—and it’s still unclear whether he’ll be tempted to make a move this time around.

Back in December, CaughtOffside reported that several top clubs, including RB Leipzig, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Inter Milan, Napoli, AS Roma, and Newcastle United, were monitoring Akliouche.

Manchester City are believed to be the most serious among them. While nothing materialized in January, Akliouche is well aware of the growing spotlight as the next transfer window approaches.

The Ligue 1 side aren’t reportedly looking to sell unless they receive an offer of at least €60 million. Still, Akliouche’s future is shaping up to be one of the major storylines of the summer.

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Maghnes Akliouche, joining rivals Manchester City in pursuing the Monaco talent, according to L’Équipe.

A summer departure looks likely, with Monaco setting a price tag between €70 million and €80 million. Interest remains strong despite the hefty fee, with Manchester City, PSG, and now United all in the mix.

Another potential suitor for the young Frenchman is Newcastle. Last month, TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey reported that Newcastle United had scouts watching France U21’s 5-3 win over England during the international break.

Sporting director Paul Mitchell is reportedly playing a key role in driving the club’s interest, with the French winger now being considered a serious option to strengthen the right side of their attack.

TBR Football also notes that Akliouche is open to a move to St. James’ Park — something that could prove crucial if a deal comes together.
