Manchester United have made their worst start to a season in 37 years, and their kit could have something to do with it.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, United have been unable to wear their official Adidas home socks since the second match of the season due to them being too tight, with goalkeeper André Onana also forced to play in a replica jersey because the version specifically designed for players is too small for him.

Onana reportedly wore the official jersey up until the victory over Sheffield United on 21 October, but has since switched to one of the more loose-fitting replica versions available to fans in the club shop.

While the outfield players wore the official home socks just twice – against Wolves and Tottenham – before switching to generic Adidas branded black socks.

Adidas have reportedly been made aware of the situation and are now working on a solution.

Erik ten Hag and his players will no doubt be hoping more comfortable clothing will spark a change in fortunes for them this season, with five defeats from their first 10 Premier League fixtures of the new campaign.
