Manchester United are considering a move for Watford forward Ismaila Sarr, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Red Devils were linked with Sarr in 2020 and Jones reckons Erik ten Hag’s side are weighing up the possibility of revisiting their interest after ending their pursuit in Marko Arnautovic.

What’s the latest news involving Sarr?

Following Watford’s relegation two years ago, United were in talks with Sarr, although the Hornets wanted a permanent deal, while the Old Trafford side were only interested in a loan.

At the time, ex-defender Gary Neville urged the club to sign the flying winger and described him as a ‘big talent’.

But Sarr stayed at Vicarage Road and some two years later he remains a Watford player despite constantly being likened to Premier League clubs.

Sarr scored five goals, one of which came against United, and added two assists in 22 top-flight outings last season but was unable to save the Hertfordshire side from suffering relegation once again.

However, he’s made a bright start back in the Championship, assisting the winner against Sheffield United last Monday, before incredibly scoring from his own half against West Brom seven days later, although he later missed a penalty, which saw Watford’s 100 per cent start came to an end.

Regardless, Jones reckons Sarr has given everyone a timely reminder of his qualities, with United facing competition from two of their Premier League rivals for his signature.

What did Jones say about Sarr?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Sarr has reminded a lot of clubs in the Premier League that he’s probably worth an offer in this window.

There are a few clubs that have been thinking about it – Newcastle, Man United and West Ham among them.”

Does Sarr have a good Premier League record?

Considering Sarr’s two seasons spent in England’s top-flight have resulted in relegation, his record is decent.

In 50 Premier League appearances, he has scored 10 goals and laid on eight assists, which means he’s directly involved in a goal better than every three games.

To put his numbers last term into context, he outscored Marcus Rashford (4), Jadon Sancho (2) and Anthony Elanga (1), which suggests that while he might not have as much pedigree as some of those, he would be a major upgrade in regard to their current options.
