What did Crook say about Eriksen?

With Eriksen’s contract at Brentford expiring later this month, it was always shaping up to be an intense race to secure his services.

The 30-year-old is keen on staying in London, though, which looked likely leading towards a straight shootout between Brentford and Tottenham.

But Antonio Conte’s side have since cooled their interest in the player and are looking at other targets, while Manchester United has made contact with his representatives, with Erik ten Hag an admirer of the ex-Ajax star, who boasts a proven record of 115 goals in his club career.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Saturday that Eriksen is set to decide on his next club in the coming days and Crook reckons that United are confident they’ll beat off competition from Brentford.

What did Crook say about Eriksen?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I was told the end of last week they [United] were confident of signing him. Tottenham have withdrawn their interest; I think if they were serious that’s where he would go because you’ve got the situation where his family don’t want to leave London.”

Should Eriksen choose Manchester United?

Ultimately, wages aside, Eriksen’s decision will come down to whether he’s more interested in club stature or getting more game-time.

Despite their downfall in recent years, United remain one of the biggest clubs in the world and while they’re no longer in the Champions League, playing at the Theatre of Dreams is still an attractive proposition.

However, staying at Brentford will not only meet his family’s demands of being in London, but he would also be playing for a club he’s already settled at and wouldn’t have to prove himself having already established himself as a regular during his 11-game spell from February onwards.
