Manchester United have lowered their price for Chris Smalling.
United are willing to strike a permanent deal with Roma for Chris Smalling - but have told the Serie A club it will cost £18 million to sign the defender.
The 30-year-old enjoyed a successful loan stint with the Giallorossi last season and the Italian club wanted to extend his loan, a request which was turned down by United, says the Guardian.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to raise funds from Smalling's sale but the £25m asking price had put off the Italian outfit.
But the Red Devils have dropped their asking price to £18m and Roma have reopened talks in an attempt to finalise an agreement, with Smalling keen to return to Rome.
