Manchester City are on course to win their sixth Premier League title this season.
The Citizens have opened up a six-point lead at the top of the table, although Liverpool could cut the gap to three points should they win their game in hand.
City are arguably the best team in the world. However, they aren’t the biggest club in their county.
There’s no doubt that Manchester United are the biggest club in Greater Manchester.
While they are no where near as good as their fierce rivals at the moment, they have a bigger global fanbase, have won many more trophies in their history and attract bigger attendances on a weekly basis.
Despite their disappointing season, United can still claim they are one of the biggest clubs in world football.
So United are the biggest club in their county. But what about every other county in England?
Reddit user u/HoldThiisW has created a fascinating graphic which, in their opinion, shows ‘every English county’s biggest club’.

While they’ve struggled on the pitch in recent years, they still have a huge global fanbase and, in terms of trophies won, are England’s third most successful club ever.
Aston Villa have been named the biggest club in the West Midlands, ahead of Birmingham City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The other Premier League clubs not named the biggest club in their county are Everton and Burnley, who miss out to Liverpool and Blackburn Rovers respectively.
In total, eight non league clubs have been named their counties biggest team: Woking, Hereford, Leamington, Kidderminster Harriers, Blyth Spartans, Truro City, Newport (IOW) and Oakham Town.
Oakham Town play in the Peterborough and District Football League, which is the 11th tier of English football.
