Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Chelsea have agreed to sign 17-year-old Geovany Quenda from Sporting Lisbon, edging out rivals for the teenager’s signature.
Quenda has already completed his medical after a secret visit and is set to join Chelsea in 2026. The club finalized the deal with Sporting, and Quenda has given his approval for the club’s project and Enzo Maresca’s plans.
Earlier reports from Foot Mercato revealed that PSG, Manchester City, and Manchester United had all been monitoring Quenda. United’s interest stands out, as new manager Ruben Amorim, who previously coached Sporting, is eager to bring Quenda into his squad.

GIVE ME SPORT reported on Friday, citing sources, that Manchester United were stunned after Chelsea dashed Ruben Amorim’s hopes of reuniting with Quenda at Old Trafford. Chelsea completed a deal with Sporting ahead of the official opening of the transfer window.
The report suggests Manchester United planned to prioritize a move for Quenda, with him possibly being their top target in the summer. As a result, his decision to accept Chelsea’s offer was a tough one to take.
