Kobbie Mainoo is a name some Manchester United fans may not know as of yet.

But in the near future, it’s very likely that they will, because the 16-year-old midfielder is starting to turn heads with his performances for the club’s Under-18 side.

The Stockport-born starlet’s latest magical display came in United’s impressive 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.

At Old Trafford, the Red Devils were simply too hot to handle, with two goals from former Manchester City youth player Charlie McNeill and a stunning strike from Alejandro Garnacho booking the team’s place in the final.

And in the centre of midfield alongside Daniel Gore, Mainoo was simply magical, with many United fans likening him to current first-team star Paul Pogba.

Want to know just how special his performance was? Well, Mainoo’s individual highlights from the match have gone viral on social media, which is not exactly common for an Under-18 player.

Check them out in all their glory here…

What a talent! The kid looks completely press resistant, can pick out a pass from anywhere on the pitch and has a serious turn of pace that allows him to burst forward with authority and slice through the opposition’s defensive lines.

Not a bad skillset that.

The fact Mainoo was born six months AFTER Wayne Rooney made his debut for United in the Champions League versus Fenerbahce makes us feel very, very old.

United fans were drooling over the 16-year-old’s masterclass and you can check out some of the best reaction below.

Like us, they’re seriously impressed.

However, what must be remembered is that despite looking like a world beater in the youth team, Mainoo still needs time before he can make the step up to the first-team.

While United’s options in the middle of the park aren’t exactly great right now, there’s absolutely nothing to gain from Ralf Rangnick throwing a promising teenage talent in at the deep end too soon.

Let the midfielder continue to build confidence in the Under-18 side and then promote him to the Under-23s when both the coaches and the player feel the time is right.

There’s absolutely no denying that Mainoo is a potential superstar in the making and with the right guidance, he could reach the very top.
