Manchester United have reportedly joined Chelsea and Tottenham in the race for Brentford striker Ivan Toney, amid speculation he could leave the club.

The 27-year-old is unavailable until January after being suspended for betting breaches, but several clubs are queueing up for his signature.

That is no surprise, either, considering Toney scored an impressive 20 goals in the Premier League last season, trailing only Erling Haaland and Harry Kane in the scoring charts.

As reported by Football365, Chelsea and Tottenham both share an interest in signing Toney and are willing to wait until January to bring him in.

It now seems that Man Utd could join the race for Toney, as Erik ten Hag looks to bring in support for Marcus Rashford and new signing Rasmus Hojlund.

According to the Daily Mail, Man Utd, Tottenham and Chelsea are ‘at the front of the queue’ for the England international.

Interestingly, Toney has just joined renowned agency CAA Stellar, which represents high-profile players like Jack Grealish, Eduardo Camavinga and Luke Shaw. Gareth Bale was also one of their clients before his retirement from football.

“It is very timely for me to be joining CAA Stellar. It feels like a fresh beginning,” Toney said on his latest move. “Never underestimate the power you have to take your life in a new direction.”

This only increases the likelihood of Toney leaving Brentford at some point this season. He will not come cheap, however, despite the controversy surrounding him.

The Daily Mail add that the Bees will demand a fee in the region of £80m for Toney. This will give them a huge profit on the £5m they spent on him in 2020.

Man Utd, Chelsea and Tottenham all have different reasons for wanting to sign the Brentford star.

As mentioned, Ten Hag wants to add another quality striker to provide competition for Rashford and Hojlund. Chelsea want to bring in cover for Nicolas Jackson, with Romelu Lukaku on the verge of leaving the club. Tottenham, on the other hand, are still looking for a replacement for Harry Kane.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if one of the Premier League trio make a bid for Toney in the next few days. If not, it’s likely there will be a battle for his signature in January.
