What’s the latest news involving Antony?

According to talkSPORT, United are interested in signing the Brazilian winger, who’s caught the eye following two impressive seasons in Amsterdam.

Alex Crook revealed that United are expected to table a £40m bid for the 22-year-old, who was brought to Ajax by Ten Hag from Sao Paulo two years ago.

United are hoping to strengthen their wide areas, with uncertainty other the futures of Antony Martial and Marcus Rashford, while Mason Greenwood is still under a police investigation.

Ten Hag is set to bring Donny van de Beek back into the fold, while Frenkie de Jong is being linked with a move to Old Trafford, with the incoming Red Devils boss clearly keen on reuniting with some of his former players.

And Sheth reckons there’s a real possibility Antony also ends up making the switch to the Theatre of Dreams.

What did Sheth say about Antony?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Also, Edwin van der Sar, the chief executive at Ajax and the former Manchester United goalkeeper, and it’s almost like when a player does go from Ajax to Manchester United, it’s with the wishes of the Dutch club, so keep an eye on that one, the Antony one has got legs.”

How has Antony performed for Ajax?

The right-winger might have arrived at Ajax in 2020 with no experience of European football, but it hasn’t shown in his performance levels.

In 78 appearances for the Dutch champions, Antony has scored 22 goals and laid on another 20 assists for his teammates in what has been a hugely productive two seasons in the Eredivisie.

As a result, Ten Hag described him as an ‘incredible talent‘, which feels appropriate given some of his displays on the Champions League stage.

In football’s top club competition, the impressive youngster was directly involved in six goals in seven games last season, including a goal in the thumping victory over Borussia Dortmund and then two assists in the win in Germany against Erling Haaland’s former outfit.

With Antony possessing bags of talent and potential, this could be a real statement signing from Ten Hag.
