Man Utd have reportedly “agreed” to the idea of loaning Marcus Rashford to Barcelona with an obligation to buy as transfer talks advance.

The wide forward has long been linked with a move to the Catalan club and his future at Old Trafford appears to be over following a falling out with manager Ruben Amorim last season.

Rashford was sent out on loan to Aston Villa for the second half of the campaign, and went on to register four goal involvements in ten Premier League appearances.

The 27-year-old returned to Carrington for pre-season, but has been training separately from the first team while he looks for a new club.

It seems like Barcelona will be that club after The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed that they are “advancing with a move” to sign the outcast.

Barça have submitted a proposal to Man Utd that would see them take Rashford on loan next season and it includes an obligation to buy the player.

Although it is “not yet a done deal”, the Red Devils have agreed to the proposal and “talks between all parties are now at the final stages”.

Barcelona have been linked with moves for Athletic Club de Bilbao winger Nico Williams and Luis Diaz of Liverpool as they look to strengthen their left flank.

However, Williams signed an eight-year contract extension and Liverpool are playing hard ball over Diaz, who has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich. With both options off the table, Barcelona have turned to Rashford as an alternative.

Meanwhile, the deal is set to disappoint Jose Mourinho, who Turkish media claimed wanted to reunite with Rashford at Fenerbahce.
