Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney could be set to take his first steps into management.

Derby County are growing impatient with current boss Phillip Cocu.

If the Dutchman is relieved of his duties, it appears Rooney could succeed him as a player manager, per The Sun.

Cocu could go if Derby lose to Watford on Friday night.

Rooney has six goals and three assists for the club since signing for them last January.

Derby have lost three of their first four games this term.
