The Canadian international’s current deal with Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season. Negotiations for an extension have stalled due to a disagreement over wage demands.

According to The Athletic, Davies is not considered a priority target for Man United.

His astronomical salary demands would likely be an obstacle even if United want him as a free agent next summer.

Davies is aiming for a lucrative deal, which includes a weekly salary of £254,000 and a signing-on fee of approximately £12.5 million.

INEOS have focused on cost-cutting in their first year in charge of football matters at the club.

This includes laying off several staff members and making the unpopular decision to cancel the Christmas party.

They may look for alternatives who could be signed on a cheaper deal.
