Manchester United hold an interest in signing one of Europe’s emerging strikers next summer.

The Red Devils bolstered their centre-forward department in the recent transfer window with the acquisition of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.

Zirkzee had a sensational debut with a late winner against Fulham off the bench, but the Dutchman has since struggled to find the back of the net.

Rasmus Hojlund has started the last two games ahead of Zirkzee following a pre-season injury, but the Dane has also been inconsistent up front.

Daily Mail now report that United are one of the clubs interested in landing Benjamin Sesko, who is expected to leave RB Leipzig next summer.

United can make a huge statement with Sesko deal

The 21-year-old was on the radar of several Premier League clubs last summer including United, but he ended up penning a new contract with Leipzig.

As part of the deal, the £55 million release clause was removed from his contract and Leipzig are now in a strong position to negotiate a higher package.

Sesko had a slow start to his career with Leipzig, but he was brilliant during the back end of last season. He finished with 18 goals and three assists.

The Slovenian has carried over his form this campaign with six goals and three assists from nine outings.

Sesko has the strong finishing skills of Erling Haaland, but he has several other good attributes.

He has the ability to score long-range goals. The youngster has also impressed with his hold-up play and aerial presence in and around the opposition box.

The former Red Bull Salzburg man is also better with his distribution and likes to high press defenders.

Sesko surely ‘can be one of the best in the world‘ as BBC Sport mentioned during the summer. The Red Devils can make a statement by landing his signature.

United’s chances could largely depend on whether they can qualify for the Champions League as well as assure him with regular minutes in the starting line-up.

The asking price could be another possible stumbling block.

Sesko is presently valued at €50m (£42m) by Transfermarkt, but Leipzig could easily hold out for €100m (£83m) if he were to score 25-30 goals this season.
