Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand has confirmed that Rasmus Hojlund will make his return from a muscle injury in Manchester United's FA Cup clash with Liverpool this weekend.

Hojlund has missed United's last four games across all competitions but United boss Erik ten Hag recently admitted he is hopeful of seeing his big-money striker back in action when Liverpool head to Old Trafford on Sunday.

After naming the 21-year-old in his squad for the upcoming international break, Hjulmand went one step further and confirmed Hojlund's return to the United setup.

"It is clear that Rasmus will play on Sunday against Liverpool and he must come through that game well," Hjulmand said.

"We expect that. We are in contact with United. I have spoken to Erik and we expect that to happen. But it is clear that he has to get through the game."

While Hjulmand was optimistic about Hojlund's future at United, he could not hide his concern for 32-year-old Christian Eriksen, who has played just twice in 2024 so far.

"He came back after an injury that kept him out over the autumn," the Denmark boss continued. "But as it is right now, Christian not playing often is not the best situation. I very much hope that it will change.

"I am pretty sure that we will see a Christian who is fit. I know he is, but it's clear that if it continues, it could become with Christian – as with everyone else – a concern for the level that you can bring [to the national team] if he doesn't get more playing time than at the moment.

"A player as skilled as Christian has to play, and of course we very much hope that things will change at United, but not having played more is not the best situation."
