Manchester United would be transformed as a club if the Glazer family were to sell to interested billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Erik ten Hag was appointed as manager after the end of last season but there may be an even bigger change in the offing at Old Trafford in the coming months.

The Glazers have been in charge of United since 2005 after a £790 million deal was agreed but they are now facing interest from a serious bidder.

Ratcliffe is interested in buying a stake in the Red Devils and is eager to hold talks with the American family with a view to eventually taking full control of the club, according to The Times

A spokesman for the billionaire confirmed in the publication that he is ‘definitely’ a potential buyer if the club is put up for sale.

It came after Bloomberg reported that the Glazers are considering selling a minority stake in the club.

But it has since emerged that Ratcliffe has so far been ignored in his attempts to negotiate with the United owners.

That has not stopped the current Nice owner from putting plans in place ahead of his potential purchase, with Paris Saint-Germain advisor Luis Campos lined up for a role under his regime.

What has Jones said on a potential takeover?

Jones believes that, if a takeover were to go through, the world would see a complete change at Old Trafford.

The journalist adds that, while the Glazers have put money into United, owning the club is about much more.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Yes, the Glazers have put money into the club. But that’s not the be-all and end-all, there’s more to it than that and I just think, if this happens, we’re going to see a totally different United.”

Will Ratcliffe be successful?

It is hard to say at this point, given the silent treatment he has received thus far, but the fact the Glazers are willing to sell a minority stake makes it a real possibility.

Ratcliffe is clearly eager to move into the Premier League, having attempted a late bid for Chelsea earlier this year, so it is not surprising that United also appeals to him.

He has a fortune of around £6.33 billion so if anyone is going to be able to buy the Glazers out, it is going to be him.

However, it appears that, even if he can obtain a minority stake, it could still be some time before he is in control at Old Trafford.
