Manchester United have been dealt a double injury blow with new signing Lenny Yoro set to miss around three months and Rasmus Hojlund out for around six weeks.

Yoro only signed for United this month but injured his foot in the pre-season friendly with Arsenal.

Hojlund was also injured against Arsenal and was forced off soon after scoring because of a hamstring injury.

It comes as another big blow for boss Erik ten Hag, who endured a nightmare with injuries last season and frequently pointed to a lack of consistency in team selections as a big issue for the team’s struggles in the Premier League.

And the club are now set to ramp up their search for a new central defender and striker following the injuries, according to the Daily Mail.

United have been heavily linked with both Mathjis de Ligt of Bayern Munich and Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton in defence this summer but are yet to have agreed a deal for either of the pair.

The Red Devils completed the signing of forward Joshua Zirkzee this summer but are said to be keen on strengthening in attack further, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney reportedly an option.

United’s latest pre-season outing saw them beat Spanish side Real Betis 3-2, with goals from Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo and Casemiro.

After the game, ten Hag told MUTV: “What we want to achieve is we want to be very proactive and very aggressive and it doesn’t matter if sometimes we are high [up the pitch] or sometimes in a lower block.

“We have to be very aggressive and in order to get this we need to start the press at certain points and all be on one page. Then the intensity must convert to being with the ball and we must do this as a team.”
