Currently 13th in the Premier League, United’s best shot at qualifying is through the Europa League, where they face Lyon in the quarter-finals.

Top targets like Victor Osimhen and Liam Delap could prove too costly without Champions League revenue. That’s why United are reportedly keeping an eye on Mateta, who has impressed with 16 goals this season and could be available for a reduced fee due to his expiring contract in 2026.

The 27-year-old is seen as a strong fit for United’s style under Ruben Amorim. If Palace fail to secure a contract extension, Mateta may become a key summer option at Old Trafford.
