Manchester United defender Raphael Varane says he faces Manchester City feeling in top shape.

United have answered their critics emphatically since, winning four consecutive games in the Premier League. Varane has been a key part of that renaissance, sitting at the heart of a new-look defence, which also includes new signings Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez as well as long-serving Diogo Dalot.

Varane said, "At the start of the season, we had to fight on the pitch, we have to continue like that.

"I had a complete pre-season, I was able to work well on the physical level and I (hope to) continue. I feel better and it shows on the ground."
