Seven senior players have already left Manchester United this summer, with further departures expected as Erik ten Hag continues to revamp the squad.

The new manager inherited a bloated group and six players left on free transfers, including Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Edinson Cavani.

Tyrell Malacia, the Feyenoord left-back, is expected to be announced as Ten Hag’s first signing at the club on Monday, with the 22-year-old undergoing the first part of his medical on Sunday.

Malacia’s imminent arrival means that there are four senior left-backs at the club, with the Dutchman and Luke Shaw thought to be first in line. Behind them, Alex Telles and Brandon Williams are hoping for an opportunity.

Now, it’s being claimed that the former’s days at the club are numbered. That’s according to The Mirror, who say that he is set to leave the club after being involved in a training ground bust-up earlier this year.

As per the report, Telles’ bust-up with youngster Hannibal Mejbri forced Ralf Rangnick, who was the interim boss at the time, to abandon training earlier than planned.

And now it looks like his Old Trafford career is coming to an end just two years after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed him. He could, however, be used as a makeweight in another deal.

The report goes on to say that United retain an interest in Villarreal defender Pau Torres, with Telles and Eric Bailly potentially seen as bait in order to engineer a move for the Spain international.

SN’s verdict… Telles has endured two difficult years at United but he was given the benefit of the doubt following his first campaign due to Luke Shaw’s stellar form.

The Brazilian rarely featured under Solskjaer but this year, with Shaw struggling with form and injuries, the former Porto captain was offered the chance to impress.

He has done little to suggest that Ten Hag will fight to keep him at the club and with Malacia coming in, it could be the perfect time to let him go. Furthermore, his departure could help fund additional incomings.
