Manchester United registered a sublime 2-1 win over Manchester City in the Premier League derby at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The Red Devils were on course for a defeat, but they made a terrific comeback with two late goals in the space of 115 seconds.
The club are making good progress under new manager Ruben Amorim and he could be backed with some signings this winter.
Andre Onana is an assured starter in goal for United, but there has been speculation that the board want a quality competitor alongside him.
Altay Bayindir has not been able to displace Onana and is reportedly keen on leaving the club next month.
UOL claims that United have made contact with Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor regarding a potential move to Old Trafford.
Bayindir was an established goalkeeper for Fenerbahce and Turkey before joining United, but he has been limited to just three appearances.
The 26-year-old has been unable to break into the starting XI despite some high-profile errors from Onana, including a couple this season.
He could move on at the turn of the year. United could replace him with Victor, who has just won the Serie A and Copa Libertadores titles with Botafogo.
The 28-year-old had a stand-out campaign with 51 appearances. He saved 79 percent of shots against him and had a 77 percent passing accuracy.
Victor is obviously a good ball-playing keeper like Onana, but he possesses better reflexes and has a dominating presence with his height (197 cm).
Botafogo have set an asking price of £20 million for the shot-stopper, but United will be hoping to sign him for much less with performance add-ons.
