Manchester United are among three Premier League clubs who reportedly ‘rang’ Atletico Madrid about wantaway forward Joao Felix.

Felix spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea having fallen out with Atletico boss Diego Simeone and the Portugal international looks set to be on the move again this summer.

He was reportedly made to train with the Atletico academy players on the first day of pre-season and has been stripped of the No.7 jersey, with Antoine Griezmann reclaiming the shirt he wore in his first spell with the club.

Chelsea were considering making Felix’s loan move permanent but new manager Mauricio Pochettino decided against it.

Atletico are said to be asking for an unlikely €100m for their star forward and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs most heavily linked with the 23-year-old.

But ABC (via Sport Witness) claim Felix has been ‘seduced’ by the Premier League after his Chelsea stint and agent Jorge Mendes is working to find his client a club in the English top flight.

It’s claimed Manchester United, along with Newcastle and Aston Villa, ‘rang’ Atletico Madrid over a potential move for Felix, but are yet to approach the Spanish side with ‘honest intentions’ to sign the former Benfica star.

Simeone reportedly wanted to be rid of Felix before pre-season started and ABC confirm that he ‘will not stay’ at the club beyond the summer.

But their price tag looks likely to prevent a permanent transfer; ‘all roads’ point to another loan move.

Speaking at Benfica’s pre-season training camp at St George’s Park on Tuesday, the team’s vice-captain, Joao Mario, insisted Felix would be welcome back at the club he left in 2019 for £120m.

“I want the best for Joao,” Joao Mario said.

“He is a young man with a lot of talent, a lot of quality, whatever is best for him is what I want.

“For Benfica he would be an excellent player, everyone knows the qualities of Joao Felix. If he wants to come and is willing to help us, he will always be welcome.”
