Manchester United are eyeing Villarreal defender Pau Torres.

Eurosport says Old Trafford chiefs could turn their attention to Villarreal defender Torres, who has established himself as a regular starter for the Spanish outfit over the course of the last two seasons.

The Spain international's £43m release clause is also reportedly seen as an attractive and more realistic option in comparison to Jules Kounde's clause at Sevilla, given the continued financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Torres has made 29 appearances for former Arsenal boss Unai Emery's Villarreal this season - scoring two goals in the process - while also featuring for Luis Enrique's Spain in four UEFA Nations League games this term.

The Spaniard is viewed as a leading candidate to partner Sergio Ramos during this summer's delayed European Championships.
