Raphaël Varane is set to miss several weeks for Manchester United through injury.

The France international was withdrawn at half-time of last weekend’s win over Nottingham Forest due to what Erik ten Hag described as a “complaint”.

Old Trafford officials have now confirmed that Varane will miss Sunday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal and faces a lengthier lay-off with the unspecified issue.

“Raphaël Varane will be missing from the team when Manchester United face Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday due to injury,” read a club statement.

“The France international came off at half-time in our 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday due to the complaint, which is expected to keep him out for a few weeks.

“Erik ten Hag may provide an update on team news during the pre-match press conference on Friday.”

United are already set to be without Mason Mount until after the September international break after he also picked up an injury in their defeat to Tottenham.
