Manchester United co-chairman Joel Glazer will attend the first meeting of the club's new fan advisory board in January.

The FAB will be co-chaired by United managing director Richard Arnold, who is widely expected to take over the day-to-day running of the club when Ed Woodward stands down as executive vice-chairman, which is planned for the end of the year.

In total seven fan representatives will be on the FAB, including Christopher Saad, a lifelong fan and experienced barrister, who will be the other co-chairman.

Three members of the Manchester United Supporters Trust, who are also in advanced discussions with the club over a new Fan Share Scheme, are part of the fan group.

“I firmly believe that we will establish a positive new model for fan engagement in football," said Saad.

“Sometimes there will be agreement, sometimes we will challenge hard. We will not shy away from frank discussion."

The move comes a week after the publication of Tracey Crouch's fan-led review. One of its key recommendations was that fans should be consulted on all key off-field decisions through a shadow board.

It is understood, United believe their FAB is in line with this demand, with the focus of it centring around long-term strategic issues, including stadium development.
