Man Utd 'close' to signing Liam Delap | OneFootball

Manchester United are favourites to sign Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap according to Sky Sports News.

The outlet cited one source who felt like a deal was 'very close' with the player happy to move to Old Trafford and the club keen to trigger the reported £30 million release clause.

The Tractor Boys will be spending next season in the Championship but considering that Delap has interest from United as well as other clubs including Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, the 22-year-old is expected to stay in the top flight.

Delap previously played for United's local rivals Manchester City after having joined the Citizen's academy from Derby County.

The England youth international made six appearances for City in total with his last coming in a 5-0 win away to Sporting CP then managed by Ruben Amorim.

Since joining Ipswich, Delap has played 38 games in all competitions, scoring 12 and assisting twice.
