The Watford winger, who Abdoulaye Doucoure says has “exceptional qualities”, is currently being linked with a move to Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag looks to strengthen his attack.

What is the latest news involving Sarr?

As per 90min, United are currently considering Sarr. It comes after the Manchester club cooled their brief interest in Bologna’s Marko Arnautovic.

This is not the first time Sarr has appeared on United’s radar. In fact, the 24-year-old came close to joining them in 2020 when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was still in charge, something former Watford director Filippo Giraldi confirmed last year.

“We were extremely close. I was personally negotiating with them,” Giraldi told the Here We Go podcast (via GOAL).

“I love Ismaila because he has the ability to affect the game every time he plays, and that’s quite rare,” Giraldi later went on to add.

What has Jones said about Sarr and United?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that United should be able to get Sarr for about £25m if they decide to make a move for him before the transfer window shuts.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “Watford were already expecting interest in Ismaila Sarr, but as these stories gather pace, I have checked out what they would be looking for, and I’m told his valuation is £25m.

“It’s not too bad in this market but worth bearing in mind Wilfried Zaha has the same sort of price tag and much more experience.”

Would Sarr be a good signing for United?

Sarr obviously has a lot of skill and talent. You only have to look at his spectacular goal against West Brom on Monday to realise that.

He causes defenders a lot of problems, with the Senegal international winning the most fouls per game in the Hornets’ squad last season (via WhoScored). He was also in their top three players for dribbles completed, averaging 1.5.

Ultimately, United signing Sarr for £25m could be a smart investment, or at least a smarter investment than paying £84m for Ajax’s Antony.

According to the MailOnline, Ten Hag wants to bring Antony to Old Trafford this summer but Ajax want £84m for the Brazilian.

At that price, United definitely need to be considering alternatives, and Sarr could be a really good one. Supporters will probably not view him as a fancy name and may feel a bit underwhelmed, but the Red Devils could do a lot worse.
