Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to sign a new striker in the coming weeks.

ESPN says the Norwegian has set his sights on a signing a world-class striker ahead of next season - and there is a hope that Harry Kane (Tottenham) or Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund) will still be available.

There are no guarantees that either will still be on the market though, with both being courted for money-spinning switches this summer.

But after sanctioning a £72.9m deal for Jadon Sancho, along with an initial £34m for Raphael Varane, the United hierarchy accept they will have to bide their time for any more big business.

Kane has been heavily pursued by the Reds' bitter rivals Manchester City, but it appears he could be staying put.

Chelsea's admiration for Haaland is well-documented, but they too may wait until next summer when he'd be available for less than his reported £150m pricetag.
