There were five enticing Premier League matches coming our way on Saturday.
Here’s what went down.
Scorers: Ramsey 77′, Coutinho 82′; Fernandes 5′, 67′.
Philippe Coutinho came off the bench to grab a late equaliser on his debut as Aston Villa came from two goals down to draw with Manchester United.
The visitors were gifted the lead just five minutes into the game when Villa goalkeeper Emi Martínez spilt a shot from Bruno Fernandes into the net after a well-worked short free-kick from United.
Fernandes extended that advantage deep into the second half when his powerful shot from 15 yards out crashed in off the crossbar after being played through by Fred.
But Villa boss Steven Gerrard turned to Coutinho from the bench and not long after that decision they had a found their way back into the game.
Jacob Ramsey placed the ball into the top corner after the ball had ricocheted into his path inside the box before Coutinho sent Villa Park into hysterics with his vital contribution.
Ramsey’s pass across the box found the Brazilian at the far post who was on hand to tap home to complete the comeback as Villa move above Brentford into 13th.
Ralf Rangnick’s side remain in seventh in the table.
Scorers: Saint-Maximin 49′; João Pedro 88′.
João Pedro netted a late equaliser to deny Newcastle a huge victory and keep Eddie Howe’s side in the relegation zone.
Chris Wood made debut for the club but it was their record signing Joelinton who almost gave them the lead.
Ryan Fraser’s cross ended up in the path of the Brazilian in the box who poked his shot towards goal before it struck the crossbar in the only moment worth of note from the first half.
The Magpies then found the lead at the start of the second half when Allan Saint-Maximin capitalised on Jeremy Ngakia’s mistake before cutting inside from the left and blasting a right-footed effort past Ben Foster.
Josh King and Moussa Sissoko went close for the Hornets before João Pedro rose highest to power a header past Martin Dúbravka from Kiko Femenia’s inviting cross.
Claudio Ranieri’s men remain outside of the drop zone by a point while Newcastle remain in 19th, two points from safety.
Scorers: Keane (OG) 16′, Idah 18′; Richarlison 60′.
Norwich City scored two goals in two minutes to stun Everton and give their Premier League survival hopes a huge boost.
Michael Keane turned the ball into his own net from Josh Sargent’s cross to give the Canaries the lead before Adam Idah poked past Jordan Pickford from close range to double their advantage two minutes later.
A fan from the away end entered the pitch to remonstrate against his side’s performance before he was removed by stewards.
Their fortunes did improve in the second half when Richarlison came off the bench to half the deficit in the 60th minute with a stunning bicycle kick.
But it’s now just one win in their last 11 games for Rafael Benítez’s side sit six points above the drop zone.
Scorers: Jiménez PEN 36′, Coady 59′, Traoré ; Ward-Prowse 84′.
Wolves moved to within two points of the top six after claiming a 2-1 victory at home to Southampton.
The hosts were were awarded a penalty in the 36th minute when Rayan Aït-Nouri was brought down in the box. Raúl Jiménez stepped up to dispatch the spot-kick to bag his fourth goal of the season.
Conor Coady then doubled that advantage when he reacted first to the rebound of Max Kilman’s effort off the post to head the ball home.
James Ward-Prowse got the Saints back into the game with a stunning free-kick six minutes from time but Adama Traoré came off the bench to slide the ball across Frazer Forster to round the game off for Bruno Lage’s men.
Scorers: De Bruyne 70′
Manchester City extended their lead at the top of the table to 13 points thanks to a brilliant Kevin De Bruyne winning goal against Chelsea.
The champions almost went ahead in the fourth minute when Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga came racing off his line to clear, and smashed the ball against team-mate Cesár Azpilicueta. Luckily for the visitors, the ball only went out for a corner.
Chelsea’s first dangerous attack came in the 10th minute when Romelu Lukaku looked to have slipped Hakim Ziyech in behind the City defence, but the pass was too long and the offside flag was up anyway.
John Stones then had a chance to head City in front from a corner, but his effort was saved comfortably by Kepa.
Jack Grealish had a gilt-edged chance to score on the 39th-minute when Kevin De Bruyne pressed Mateo Kovačic into losing the ball in a dangerous area, but Kepa came out and made a great save to deny him.
Lukaku had Chelsea’s best chance of the game at the start of the second half when he was played in by Kovačic, but Ederson saved with a strong hand.
City thought they’d been awarded a penalty in the 55th minute when Marcos Alonso brought down Raheem Sterling in the box, but the flag was up for offside against Kyle Walker.
The next chance came in the 68th minute when Phil Foden played Sterling in down the right, but the winger could only drag his effort wide.
But the breakthrough came for City a couple of minutes later, when De Bruyne wriggled away from an N’Golo Kanté challenge before bending the ball beautifully past Kepa from 20 yards.
Chelsea almost hit back immediately, but Aymeric Laporte did well to block substitute Timo Werner’s effort at the other end.
Foden and Grealish then had chances to wrap it up for City, but Kepa was equal to both efforts.
