Manchester United maintained their perfect record in the Conti Cup group stage after a comfortable win over Leicester City.

Manchester United opened the scoring within seconds suggesting this could be a headache for the visitors as Lucia Garcia turned home Ella Toone’s blocked shot.

The host eventually doubled things when Lisa Naalsund rolled home into an empty net from a tight angle.

Aileen Whelan pulled one back for the visitors after chipping Phallon Tullis-Joyce but Geyse Ferreira was brought down in the box after the break and Katie Zelem scored the penalty to ease any pressure.

Still, Leicester can walk away with some positive notes. Marc Skinner’s side peppered the Foxes with chances over 90 minutes (23 shots, 10 on target), and only three found the net.

Last-ditch defending was on display, especially in the dying moments when a second Zelem penalty hit off the crossbar and couldn’t be converted.

The result means Manchester United have three wins from three and sit first in Group B above Manchester City, while Leicester are third, Liverpool fourth and Everton fifth.
