Manchester United target Jude Bellingham would be a ‘great fit’ for Erik ten Hag’s squad and the Borussia Dortmund star has the confidence to quickly establish himself as a key player at Old Trafford, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Red Devils may have spent more than £200million on fresh faces ahead of the deadline earlier this month, but ten Hag will be given the opportunity to splash even more cash in January.

What’s the latest news involving Bellingham?

According to The Sun, Dortmund could sanction Bellingham’s departure if a fee of £83million is paid upfront next summer.

The report suggests Manchester United are in the race to sign the central midfielder, who has been on international duty with England during the break from domestic football, but Premier League rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea also want to acquire his services.

It is understood that the Red Devils were among a number of clubs looking to strike a deal with Dortmund during the summer transfer window, but they were unwilling to part with Bellingham at that stage.

The teenager is reportedly valued at close to £132million by his current employers, meaning Manchester United will have to stump up far more cash if they are not in a position to pay £83million in one go.

It has emerged that Liverpool are making strong progress in their attempts to get a deal in place ahead of a move to Anfield at the end of the season, so the Red Devils do not appear to be at the front of the queue.

What has Dean Jones said about Bellingham?

Jones believes Bellingham would improve Manchester United boss ten Hag’s midfield options if they were to fight off stiff competition for his signature.

The journalist feels the 19-year-old would be confident of establishing himself as one of the first names on the team-sheet.

When asked whether Bellingham would be an astute signing by ten Hag, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “He’d be a great fit.

“He knows a lot of the players in that United line-up and, from a personal point of view, will now feel he has the status to quickly establish himself at one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

Would Bellingham be a good signing for Manchester United?

Although Bellingham does not boast any Premier League experience, he has chalked up 31 goal contributions in 100 appearances for Dortmund, emphasising his talent and threat in the final third of the pitch.

With central midfielder Fred being among the big names whose contract expires next summer, although there is an option to extend the agreement by 12 months, it would make sense for ten Hag to strengthen his options.

Real Madrid star David Alaba has described Bellingham as ‘one of the greatest midfield talents in the world’, so it is clear that he would be a strong signing by Manchester United.
