Manchester United wide man Jadon Sancho’s future in Erik ten Hag’s squad at Old Trafford could be “on the line” if his form for the Red Devils doesn’t turn around before the end of the season, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The former Borussia Dortmund man is currently enjoying a break from football, having not been selected for Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

Man Utd transfer news – Jadon Sancho

Having signed for Manchester United from Dortmund in the summer of 2021 for a fee of £73m according to BBC Sport, Sancho has been somewhat of a disappointment since his arrival at Old Trafford, according to Peter Schmeichel who was speaking on Sky Sports.

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are looking at a potential deal for Chelsea and United States winger Christian Pulisic, amid concerns over the former’s form for ten Hag’s side.

It is thought that the Blues would want around £35m to part ways with the American winger, and his potential arrival at Old Trafford could signal the end of Sancho’s time in Manchester, who earns a weekly wage of £350k-per-week according to Spotrac.

But Jones thinks it’s “probably a bit too early” to write off the 22-year-old’s spell at Manchester United as a “disaster.”

What has Jones said about Sancho and Man Utd?

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s probably a bit too early to call it a disaster or a complete flop but we’re heading that way at the moment.

“He’s not in the World Cup squad and he’s not in the sort of form or creating the chances and the goals that he should be.

“Things have to turn around between now and the end of the season or we’ll seriously be looking at a situation where his Manchester United future is on the line.

“They’re going to have to think about that.”

What next for Sancho?

Sancho will hope to use this small break from competitive action for the World Cup as an opportunity to recuperate and regain his confidence in training ahead of the second half of the season.

The 23-time England international hasn’t pulled up any trees at United, having scored eight goals and provided four assists in 52 appearances since his summer 2021 arrival, according to Transfermarkt.

Despite having been part of an England squad that reached the final of Euro 2020, Sancho was left out of the Three Lions’ World Cup squad this time around, and may feel that his international career may be at a crossroads, the longer he continues to underperform at Old Trafford.

Therefore, a move away from United could be the best solution for all parties come the end of the campaign, if the wide man is unable to rediscover his best form.
